    Hypnosis Q&A

    Hello

I'm hypnotherapist who focuses on helping poker players resolve their tilt issues.

Some of you may have noticed the new hypnosis section on the yourdoompoker website. We are working together to offer my Mp3's to the online poker community.

Due to stage hypnosis and television shows hypnotherapy is a misunderstood and under utilised therapy. I'm here to help answer any questions or scepticism you may have regarding hypnosis or the Mp3's.

    In terms of background:

I have a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP) from the Royal Berkshire College of Clinical Hypnosis (RBCCH). I decided on this course because it was one of the most comprehensive available in the UK. I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping) and have attended courses on utilising CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) concepts within hypnosis.

Prior to helping poker players I had some success with golfers, a friend of mine works in the Poker industry and explained the effect tilt can have on players so I started researching the subject and working with players at the back end of last year. The more I worked with players the more confident I was in the effectiveness of Hypnosis on focus and tilt at the table. I produced a live and online poker hypnosis Mp3 and recommend them being used as your pre-game warm up. Hypnosis is a guided meditation that focuses and quiets the mind prior to starting a session.

I am not a high level poker player but I have competed in highly stressful sports at national level (amateur MMA) so I understand the importance of the mental aspect of competition.

So far the Mp3's have received many positive responses and there are a number of testimonials on the details page:

I have moved to Las Vegas and also offer one-to-one sessions and personalised Mp3's.

Please let me know if you have any questions

    Kind Regards

    Elliot

    Hey,

I have heard good things about you and read on 2+2 when you were doing the trial runs.

    Couple of questions:
How could one tell if they were under hypnosis?
Is it a complete relaxation of the body and you feel kind of like you are on a cloud? (Forgive me for being corny)
How would one know the subconscious has absorbed your words and how long would you say the effects last?
Does the mind reset following an extended sleep period (IE going to bed at night)

    Thanks Elliot!

    Hi,

    Thanks for your interest.

The hypnosis state is one of relaxation and similar to meditation. The closest example would be a vivid daydream.

In terms of length of effect, suggestion lasts between 48hours and 2 weeks depending on the individual and the depth of hypnosis. This is why I recommend the Mp3's as a pre-session warm up. By listening and focusing your mind prior to each days play you can ensure you are receiving the maximum benefit.

    Good luck at the tables

    Hey Elliot!

I'd have a slight off-topic question, if you don't mind.

I've already bought your product some weeks ago. I feel that in general, my poker mindset has improved quite a bit, although there's still much to do. I'm obviously happy with my purchase and interested to see, how far this method can help my mental game. I can recommend it for everyone.

Anyway, as a consequence, my interest towards testing hypnotherapy in other areas has also risen. I've long struggled with my sleep schedule finding it really hard to fall to sleep before, say, 2-3am (I often try it at around 11pm with little success) or find the right mindset to study for my tests, even when I succeed to motivate myself to do a lot of reading. I'm sure the world is filled with different material, and I was already doing some research on it when I saw this thread and thought I'd just ask the specialist. Could you possibly recommend some material? Thanks!

    Hi,

Great to hear your finding the Mp3's useful.

Have you tried the warm-down Mp3? it is designed to encourage better sleep.

In terms of research I would start with "Hypnotherapy" by Dave Elman and "My voice will go with you" by Milton Erickson. Those books are considered the classics in the profession and will give you an excellent understanding of the concepts used in hypnotherapy.

If you have any questions regarding them please let me know

    Elliot
